The Foos recently released a new song, “Asking for a Friend,” widely interpreted as a requiem for band drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died of a drug overdose in 2022, and/or his mother, Ginny, who died the same year at age 84.

Opening all dates of the “Take Cover” tour will be Queens of the Stone Age and Gouge Away.

Pre-sale tickets will go on sale 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, via Ticketmaster, followed by a public on-sale 10 a.m. Friday, October 31.

In related former teen idol news, Ashlee Simpson has extended her “I Am Me” residency at Voltaire at the Venetian. Tickets for four new dates (January 23, 24, 30 and 31) are on sale now.

No Appetite for Sphere Residency

During a recent radio appearance on SiriusXM‘s “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk,” Slash basically crapped all over a potential Sphere reunion residency with Guns N’ Roses.

“I’m real trepidatious about playing there,” the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee told Trunk, who neglected to ask whether Sphere Entertainment CEO James Dolan had even asked the band yet.

“It’s a great visual show,” the guitarist explained, admitting that he hasn’t been in person yet. “I think that in almost every case for a band, it becomes a visual show as opposed to seeing a rock and roll show.

“So there’s that,” he continued. And also, from talking to (Eagles guitarist) Joe Walsh about it …  it’s not really sort of rock and roll friendly, the way that it’s set up. So … I don’t think it would be the right environment for a proper rock and roll show.”
