Sportradar has appointed Michael C. Miller as the company’s new chief legal officer (CLO), chief administrative officer and corporate secretary to bolster its C-suite.

Miller’s tenure officially begins on 21 October, and he will succeed Lynn S. McCreary, who will remain at company as a senior advisor to CEO Carsten Koerl until her retirement at the end of the calendar year.

Sportradar’s newest addition brings 20 years’ worth of legal experience to the post, having most recently served as the CLO and executive vice-president (EVP) of corporate development and affairs for Barnes & Noble Education.

Miller spent seven-and-a-half years with the New York-listed firm between April 2017 and September 2024, during which he spearheaded a consolidated legal, government affairs, corporate development, HR and communications function.

A four-month stint as an advisor at Cydnx in January 2017 preceded Miller’s spell with Barnes & Noble Education.

His longest tenure to date came at recruitment company Monster Worldwide between November 2007 until December 2016.

In that time, he served as EVP, general counsel and secretary, playing a key role in Randstad’s acquisition of the firm a month before his exit.

Amid his new responsibilities with Sportradar, Miller is expected to continue in his role as a board member for ACDS, Inc, where he has held a board position since August 2009.

ACDS provides resources for individuals with Down’s syndrome and other developmental disabilities and their families.

On Miller’s appointment to Sportradar’s C-suite, CEO and founder Koerl said: “I am pleased to welcome Michael to our executive leadership team.

“An experienced, impactful legal and business leader, I am confident he will build on our solid foundation and bring continued strategic focus to our growing business.”

The retiring McCreary originally joined Sportradar in June 2021 as CLO before adding the chief administrative officer and corporate secretary titles to her remit in January 2023.

On McCreary’s contribution to the group, Koerl said: “Lynn has been a valued advisor to the Sportradar board of directors, the executive leadership team and me since joining the company in 2021.

“Integral to guiding Sportradar through its initial public offering, Lynn built strong and scalable programmes across legal, risk, compliance and IT governance that will serve Sportradar well into the future.”

McCreary added: “I look forward to partnering with Michael to ensure a smooth transition over the coming months.

“I have every confidence that the exceptional team will thrive under Michael’s leadership. I wish Sportradar and its clients decades of continued success, and Michael the very best in his new role.”

The former Motorola senior counsel arrives at Sportradar two months after the company raised its fiscal 2024 revenue and adjusted EBITDA guidance, now expected to hit €1.07bn (£896.4m) and rise to €204m, respectively.
