The Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC), which the late Las Vegas Sands founder Sheldon Adelson played a role in developing into one of the most prominent GOP-affiliated political groups in the United States, celebrated its 40th anniversary over the weekend at The Venetian in Las Vegas.

The RJC hosted its Annual Leadership Summit at Sands’ first from-the-ground-up Strip development from Friday, October 31, through Sunday, November 2. During Sunday’s culmination of the gathering that is to update the RJC’s grassroots outreach, public advocacy priorities, and lobbying efforts against antisemitism and strengthening the Israeli State, President Donald Trump delivered remarks from the White House.

“Very importantly, the RJC helped ensure that we won the highest percentage of the Jewish vote of any Republican since 1988. We are defending our Jewish citizens here in America,” the president began.

Just as I promised, we are deporting the foreign jihadist sympathizers and Hamas supporters from our country, and it is happening very quickly. Upon taking office, I signed a historic executive order directing every department and agency in the federal government to do everything in their power to end the scourge of antisemitism in America,” Trump continued.

“My administration has filed historic civil rights lawsuits and cut off funding to colleges and universities that refuse to defend their Jewish students from vile acts of antisemitism, and we have secured some of the largest discrimination settlements in modern times. There has been nothing like it,” the president declared.

Trump RJC Benefactor

Adelson’s widow, Dr. Miriam Adelson, has carried on her husband’s legacy of supporting Republican and Israeli causes. She was Trump’s largest campaign donor last year, three years removed from her husband’s January 2021 death due to non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

The late Adelson remains listed as an RJC board member with the “zichrono livracha” designation, a Hebrew phrase meaning “may his memory be a blessing.” The Adelson family has not only been Trump’s largest political donor, but also among the RJC’s primary benefactors.

Over the years, the RJC’s influence on Washington and the Republican Party has grown exponentially. The nonprofit’s annual meetings regularly attract the GOP’s biggest names, with this past weekend’s Leadership Summit headlined by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Arkansas Gov. Sarah Sanders, and conservative media personality Mark Levin.

RJC Criticism

The Republican Jewish Coalition has faced criticism for its alignment with specific right-wing viewpoints, specifically, its staunch anti-Palestine viewpoint, and with Trump himself. The organization has also been scolded by some within the Jewish community for not addressing certain instances of antisemitism within the GOP.

At the Leadership Summit, RJC speakers took issue with Tucker Carlson’s recent hosting of antisemite Nick Fuentes, who promotes Christian nationalism and white supremacy and denies the Holocaust. The Heritage Foundation, a DC-based right-wing think tank, defended Carlson’s chat with Fuentes.

At the RJC, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said he’s “seen more antisemitism on the right” over the past six months than he had “in my entire life.”

If you sit there with someone who says Adolf Hitler was very, very cool, and that their mission is to combat and defeat global Jewry, and you say nothing, then you are a coward and you are complicit in that evil,” Cruz declared.

RJC CEO Matt Brooks, however, said antisemitism within the Republican Party is “a very small, limited problem.” RJC attendees waved “TUCKER IS NOT MAGA” during the Saturday events.
