A man from Whitecourt in Alberta has scooped the eye-watering $25.53 million (CAD 36 million) jackpot from the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC), securing the payout in the LOTTO 6/49 Gold Ball Jackpot on October 15.

The win is a significant one for Stacey Boyce, who posed for the customary photo-op with the outsized check and shared his excitement to have been able to claim the life-changing prize. He scooped the lottery ticket on one of his trips to get propane and didn’t put much thought into his purchase.

Alberta Man Joins One of the Largest Jackpot Winners

He played the lottery once a week, and that was it. However, on this one recent occasion, he checked his LOTTO 6/49 ticket while shopping at a 7-Eleven to get propane tanks. The terminal notified him that he had won and displayed the amount.

Boyce was stunted by the discovery and walked out of the shop without taking his propane bottles.I actually walked out of the store and had to come back because I’d forgotten my propane bottles,” he shared.

We Will See about the Pony

As to his immediate plans, he is already set on making sure he takes good care of his daughter. “We’ll see about the pony,” he joshed. It is one of the largest jackpots to have been won in Alberta, and Boyce is set to make the most out of his win.

He runs a logging company near Hinton, and the money will also allow him to expand his business while creating a nice financial cushion for himself. Boyce also joins other grand lottery winners, the biggest of which was won by a couple from Peers, who scooped $42.5 million (CAD 60 million) back in 2017.
